OUR INITIATIVES
Clinical Trials British Columbia Awards
Every year, Clinical Trials British Columbia recognizes and honours individuals and organizations who have contributed outstanding leadership and distinguished service/support to the clinical trials community.
There are two award opportunities:
1. Leadership & Advocacy Award
This award honours outstanding leaders and advocates for clinical trials at the provincial and/or national level. Recipients are leaders who educate, mentor, advocate, or spearhead projects, programs, and strategies that benefit the clinical trials community.
2. Service & Support Award
This award recognizes the community-based, volunteer commitment of an individual, organization, company, or agency to improve the clinical trials community.
REACH BC
We work with the REACH BC team to recruit participants through the platform, and set up study postings.
PARTNERED INITIATIVES
ACRP Partners Advancing the Clinical Research Workforce
We are an active partner in this multi-group collaborative, which aims to build a diverse, research-ready clinical research workforce.
ACT Consortium
We collaborate with the Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Consortium, which advances equitable access to trials for all Canadians.
Canadian Clinical Trials Asset Map (CCTAM)
The CCTAM is a searchable, web-based database designed to communicate Canada’s clinical research strengths. In its early stages, we were a key partner in developing the map and providing provincial insights for BC. Currently, we are a funder, partner and a BC administrator for the map with a BC-specific portal. Our Portfolio Director, Alison Orth, co-chairs the leadership committee.
CanReview
As the provincial partner of CanReview, we lead and participate on this pan-Canadian initiative to enable a single research ethics review for multi-site clinical trials.
CANTRAIN Provincial Partnership
Together with Michael Smith Health Research BC and the University of British Columbia, our support delivers CIHR-funded CANadian Consortium of Clinical Trial TRAINing Platform (CANTRAIN) benefits to researchers and communities in British Columbia.
Canada’s Clinical Research Workforce Strategy
This is the first national initiative focused on strengthening the clinical research workforce. This effort is about more than job titles and career pathways. It’s about supporting the clinical research professionals (CRPs) who keep trials running every day — study coordinators, project managers, ethics and quality experts, and more.
Right now, CRPs in Canada face high turnover, burnout, and limited recognition. These challenges affect trial timelines, research quality, and ultimately, patient access to life-saving treatments.
We are a partner and leadership member but need you to be part of it, too. Whether you support, lead, or conduct clinical research, your voice matters in shaping solutions that will last.
Decentralized Trials and Research Alliance
Through our organizational membership and active collaboration, this work drives forth the future of patient-focused, decentralized clinical trials and research.
Research Approvals Processes Project (RAPP)
This is a joint Ministry of Health/health authority initiative to standardize and coordinate research approvals for multi-site research studies. We play a key advisory role in this work and led the design of a single ethics review process delivered to the RAPP leadership in 2024.
